Born in 1999 in Cairo, Egypt, Melanie Partamian is an Egyptian, Armenian and Greek visual artist and aspiring curator. Partamian holds a BA in Political Science from Cairo University and Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, as well as a masters degree in Theory of Arts and Culture from Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, with a thesis on Surrealism in Egypt
Partamian has been directly involved in the art scene, she worked as a gallery assistant in both Cairo and in Paris. She had also been part of the organisation team during the “Salon du Dessin” at Palais Brongniart, assisting the renowned vetting committee Andrew Robison and Julien Stock. She currently works as an associate curator at Communitas, and has curated and leads a walking tour on Armenians in Egypt “Parev-Alaikum” in collaboration with Qahrawya.
Group Exhibitions
Partamian’s preferred topic in practice is layers and identity. At an early age, she enjoyed experimenting with various materials. Her work has been shown in the group exhibitions “Downtown For All” at Cinema Radio (2022), “My Favourite Things 7” at Mashrabia Gallery of Contemporary Art (2023), “Naeema’s Office Is Bleeding” at Medrar for Contemporary Art (2023), “Reading and Reuse” at Institut Français d’archéologie orientale (2023), and “Our Palestine” at Cinema Radio (2023)

“The Last Egyptian-Armenian-Greek Family in Baehler,” her first printed book, was recently released, which relates the narrative of her multicultural Egyptian-Armenian-Greek family
